Variety

100 % tempranillo

A mild and very rainy winter. The spring also saw mild temperatures, with no frost. High temperatures were recorded during the last period of summer. Moderate rainfall in the Rioja Alta area close to harvest, but with no negative effects in terms of possible fungal diseases. The sugar levels were somewhat higher in the grapes than in previous vintages and ideal parameters in terms of health and phenolic ripeness were met.

Breeding

1

Aged for 48 months in semi-new French oak barrels in our winery cellars.

2

Once the wine had reached the full expression of its oak aging, it was bottled to rest and evolve over at least 15 years before being released to market during the second half of the 1990s.

Color

Medium-high intensity, deep cherry red with a very lively rim.

Smells

Very expressive, the most intense wine of the 1980s on the nose. Candied fruit, cinnamon, resinous notes, caramelized sugar.

Taste

Nuts, raisins and high-quality toasted oak appear on the unctuous and voluminous palate. A very broad aftertaste.
