Variety

90% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano

The temperatures were mild in the winter and exceptionally high during certain periods of the spring, getting as high as 40 degrees centigrade in May and June. This led to some moments of hydric stress in vineyards on clay soils. There was very little in the way of frost or hailstorms.
The harvest was almost 20% smaller than the previous vintage, leading to very concentrated grapes with a high skin to pulp ratio. A very homogenous harvest with a great quantity of excellent wines with tannic concentration, alcohol and acidity.

The grapes came from a small vineyard in the area between Fuenmayor and Cenicero, Rioja Alta.

Elaboration

1

The grapes were transported to the winery in small trailers to avoid damaging the bunches.

2

Once the grapes had been destemmed and crushed, they were macerated during alcoholic fermentation at a controlled fermentation at 26º-28ºC, achieving perfect levels of extraction.

3

After alcoholic fermentation, malolactic fermentation took place naturally.
