Elaboration

1

After selection on sorting tables, the grapes were vatted in underground cement tanks, to start alcoholic fermentation at 28ºC following several days' cold soaking. Precise and continuous pumping-over.

2

The wine was macerated on the grape skins for more than two weeks. The process was monitored with exhaustive tasting to ensure that the extraction of tannins and aromas were as desired.

Bodegas Montecillo

Breeding

1

The resulting full-bodied and powerful wine was racked before aging for 62 months (more than five years) in extra fine-grained French oak barrels. The barrels were selected after studying more than 40 options.

2

Once the wine had reached the full expression of its aging, Montecillo Gran Reserva Selección Especial 2005 was bottled to rest and evolve for a minimum of ten years before being released to market.

Color

Intense ruby red, medium-bodied.

Smells

On the nose it is very complex with very intense aromas. A torrent of spiced oak, licorice root, black pepper, and tobacco. Notes of very ripe black fruit with a slight touch of wood-fire roasted bell pepper.

Taste

Its glycerin texture - creamy and powerful at the same time - envelops the palate with harmonious silkiness. A very long finish, with the aromas and flavors that mark it out as a very special wine.
