Montecillo Singladuras Albariño 2023

Discover this 100% Albariño wine

Variety

100 % Albariño.

The 2023 crop cycle was characterized by a warm, wet winter and a warm, dry spring. Rainfall during the first part of the summer ensured yields of 9,500 kg/ha and high quality. Harvesting was concentrated mainly from September 2 to 15. Interesting data of 170 ha more production than in 2022 due to the boom in sales of this appellation.

In a very special area for growing the Albariño variety within the El Salnés area, the ideal vineyards for our Montecillo Singladuras Rias Baixas wine are found near to Cambados and the Atlantic coast.

Elaboration

1

The vines, with an average age of 40 years, were hand-harvested in low capacity crates, and the care and respect for the fruit of these vines was also transferred to the winemaking.

2

After the destemmed grapes had spent 4 days macerating on the skins in small temperature-controlled tanks, they were gently pressed and fermented at 16ºC over 15 days.

3

Once the wine has been blended, continuous battonage of the lees took place to give body and presence on the palate, helping to create long-lasting and more complex wines.

4

A very noble variety, with a lot of punch that will improve after some time resting in the bottle. In this case, the wine is only released after a minimum of three months.

Color

Crystalline and with a seductive brilliance, a lemon yellow tone with greenish highlights.

Smells

A very lively wine with great freshness, it is delicate and subtle, delineated by aromas of white fruit, floral notes of lilac, touches of citrus and saline minerals. After aeration, in the still glass a clear note of sweet hazelnut appears.

Taste

On the palate, it is fresh, elegant and agile. The saline and mineral notes stand out, which make it a wine with great personality. A wine with a varietal character and vibrant acidity that envelops the palate, alongside a very silky texture from the work with the lees. Citrus and floral notes persist on the long finish.
