Variety

100 % Garnacha

The vintage for our Viña Monty Garnacha Reserva wine was the earliest harvest in the history of Rioja. It stands out for its freshness, elegance and noticeable aptitude for aging.
Good weather conditions throughout the entire growth cycle culminated in an exceptionally favorable September, with the perfect weather to ensure the final ripening of the grapes.

This Garnacha wine is the result of the coming together of two vineyards. The first, which makes up most of the blend, is in the Arenzana area in Rioja Alta. The vines are more than 80 years old and grow on a slope at 542 meters altitude on sandy soils with a large quantity of pebbles.
The second plot is in the Alcanadre area (Rioja Oriental) at 350 meters altitude, on clay-based soils with greater sun exposure. The perfect complement, giving a deeper-colored, more powerful wine with higher levels of tannins and alcohol.

Testimonials

Lightly-sweet red cherry with a hint of vanilla and candied black tea leaf, very floral and delicate, perfume of dried red apple peel, cracked black pepper notes at the base. Well-managed weight on the palate, just the slightest bit light in the middle but with a fine finish and well balanced acidity throughout. Showing very well at the moment.
